Abstract
The present invention relates to a cathode active material capable of improving the performance and stability of a lithium-rich manganese-based oxide, thereby improving the performance of a battery comprising same, and, to a cathode active material and a preparation method therefor, the material comprising: a core part comprising a lithium-rich manganese-based oxide of a layered structure that includes both a Li<2>MnO<3> phase and a LiMO<2> (here, M is at least one element selected from among Ni, Co and Mn) phase; a first layer which is continuously formed on the core part and which has a crystal structure belonging to the R-3m space group; and a second layer which is continuously formed on the first layer and which has a rock-salt crystal structure belonging to the Fm-3m space group.
