Abstract

Embodiments of this application provide a battery and a power consuming device. The battery includes a battery cell, where the battery cell is a wound cell, and the battery cell includes a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate, and a separator that are arranged in a laminating manner; and the battery cell includes a first surface and a second surface oppositely arranged along a thickness direction of the battery cell; a reference electrode, where the reference electrode includes a third current collector and an electrode material layer arranged on a surface of one side of the third current collector; the reference electrode is arranged on the first surface or the second surface of the battery cell; and the reference electrode is configured to form a test loop with the positive electrode plate and/or the negative electrode plate to test an electrical parameter of the battery; and an isolator, arranged between the battery cell and the reference electrode. In the battery, the reference electrode is arranged on a surface of the battery cell, to implement high-accuracy real-time monitoring of a reaction status of a positive electrode and a negative electrode inside the battery, thereby improving a service life and safety performance of the battery. The reference electrode does not affect an original capacity and charging and discharging performance of the battery. In addition, a preparation process of the battery is simple, and has a high matching degree with a commercial production process and production equipment of an existing battery, which is beneficial to implementing large-scale production.
