Abstract

A sealing gasket capable of improving sealing force and electrolyte leakage prevention performance of a battery cell and effectively preventing electrolyte leakage due to deformation caused by a crimping process, and a battery cell including the same are disclosed. A battery cell according to an embodiment of the present disclosure comprises: a battery housing configured to accommodate an electrode assembly of a secondary battery and having an opening at one side; a battery cap coupled to the battery housing to cover the opening of the battery housing; and a sealing gasket surrounding the battery cap to seal a space between the battery cap and the battery housing. The sealing gasket and an upper end of the battery housing are configured to be bent by a crimping process to wrap around a rim of the battery cap. The sealing gasket has a groove in a portion corresponding to an upper surface corner of the rim of the battery cap.
