Abstract
A secondary battery according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: an electrode assembly; an electrode tab having one end electrically connected to at least one electrode in the electrode assembly; a battery case including an accommodation part for accommodating the electrode assembly and the electrode tab; and an electrode lead bonded to the other end of the electrode tab so as to protrude to the outside of the battery case, wherein the battery case further includes a space part which is connected to one end of the electrode lead and which is expanded by gas when the gas is generated inside the battery case, and the electrode tab can be broken by physical force transferred through the electrode lead when the space part is expanded by the gas to a predefined threshold level or more.
