Abstract
Embodiments of this application provide a communication method, and relate to the field of communication technologies. The method prevents an electronic device from entering an RRC connection reestablishment procedure, so that UE can complete an RRC connection reconfiguration procedure. The method includes: A first configuration message is received, where the first configuration message includes a third CA combination. The first configuration message is used for configuring the third CA combination for the terminal. When the third CA combination is not supported by the terminal, a first update request is sent, to trigger a first base station to query a frequency band and a CA combination that are supported by the electronic device. A first query message is received. In response to a first capability query message, first capability information is sent. The first capability information does not include a fourth CA combination, and the fourth CA combination includes a first CA combination or the third CA combination.
