Abstract
The present invention provides: a silicone compound which is compatible with a hydrophilic monomer; and a composition for contact lenses, the composition being capable of forming a transparent polymer. The composition for contact lenses contains a compound represented by formula (1). In formula (1), n represents an integer of 0 to 300, R<sub>1</sub>, R<sub>2</sub>, R<sub>3</sub>, R<sub>4</sub>, R<sub>5</sub>, R<sub>6</sub>, R<sub>7</sub>, and R<sub>8</sub> each independently represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms, R<sub>9</sub> and R<sub>10</sub> each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and X<sub>1</sub>, X<sub>2</sub>, X<sub>3</sub>, and X<sub>4</sub> each independently represent an alkylene group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
