Abstract

An air cleaner (1) includes an auxiliary casing (8) having a third volume chamber (24) continuous with a first volume chamber (14) positioned on the upstream side in the airflow direction relative to a filter element (6). The auxiliary casing (8) includes an air introduction portion (26) for introducing air passing through the filter element (6). The air introduction portion (26) is formed at the auxiliary casing (8) such that the airflow reaching the filter element (6) via the auxiliary casing (8) is not directed directly toward the filter element (6) but follows a U-shaped path.
