Abstract
The present invention relates to a method comprising the steps a) contacting ex vivo a cell from a mammalian cell line capable of secreting cytokines with a set of antibodies from a blood sample from a mammalian subject in a liquid medium and b), detecting the cytokine signature present in the liquid medium following step a). The method may be for aiding in the diagnosis of Post Covid Syndrome (PCS) in a mammalian subject comprising the steps a) contacting ex vivo a mammalian cell line capable of secreting cytokines with a set of antibodies from a blood sample of the mammalian subject in a liquid medium, b) detecting a cytokine signature present in the liquid medium following step a), wherein the cytokine signature detected comprises Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 1-delta (MiP_1d), Interleukin-4 (IL_4), Transforming Growth Factor Beta 3 (TGF_b_3), Placental Growth Factor (PIGF), Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF), Glial Cell Line-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF), Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein 2 (MCP_2), Lymphotoxin-like Inducible Protein (LIGHT), Platelet-Derived Growth Factor BB (PDGF_BB), Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF) and Thrombopoietin (TPO) and the mammalian cell line is U937. The method may be for aiding in distinguishing between PCS and PCS with severe myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) in a mammalian subject comprising the steps a) contacting ex vivo a mammalian cell line capable of secreting cytokines with a set of antibodies from a blood sample of the mammalian subject in a liquid medium, b) detecting a cytokine signature present in the liquid medium following step a), wherein the cytokine signature detected comprises Interleukin-1 alpha (IL_1a), Eotaxin-3 (Eotaxin_3), Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1 (TGF_b1), Growth-Regulated Oncogene Alpha (GRO_a), Interleukin-15 (IL_15), Neurotrophin 4 (NT_4), Insulin-Like Growth Factor I (IGF_I), Tumor Necrosis Factor Beta (TNF_b), Interleukin-1 beta (IL_1_b), Interleukin-5 (IL_5), Glial Cell Line-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (GDNF) and Interleukin-7 (IL_7) and the mammalian cell line is U937.
