Abstract

A piezoelectric element 1 according to the present disclosure is a piezoelectric element 1 including multiple piezoelectric bodies 2, having piezoelectricity, and multiple electrodes stacked alternately. At least one of the piezoelectric bodies 2 has a slit 6 in its lateral surface. The outer periphery of a cross section of the portion of the piezoelectric element 1 having the slit 6 obtained by cutting in the direction perpendicular to the stacking direction has multiple sides 20 and multiple stress relaxation portions 30 each connecting an adjacent pair of the sides 20. The stress relaxation portions 30 are formed such that when each point at which extensions of an adjacent pair of the sides 20 intersect is defined as an imaginary vertex 22, the slit 6 is located closer to the center of the piezoelectric body 2 than the imaginary vertices 22.
