Abstract

An aerosol generating device may be provided, the aerosol generating device including a housing, a heater assembly including an oscillation unit configured to generate a microwave in a designated frequency band and a resonation unit configured to receive the generated microwave from the oscillation unit through a coupler and generate an electric field by resonating the received microwave, a sensor arranged inside the housing and configured to detect insertion of a metal into an accommodation space for accommodating an aerosol generating article therein, and a processor electrically connected to the sensor and configured to block power supply to the oscillation unit when the insertion of the metal into the accommodation unit is detected.
