Abstract

A safety helmet system includes a shell (10) and at least one brim (100, 200) that is detachably connected to the shell (10) via connectors (140', 140‴, 240) having insert portions (141, 241) that are secured by securing elements (150, 250) in insert apertures (40', 40", 40‴) of the shell (10). Two brims (100, 200) may be provided, one being a full brim (100) and the other a peak brim (200) forming a peak at the front of the shell (10), wherein the two brims (100, 200) are alternatively and interchangeably connectable to the shell (10). A peak brim (200) may be connectable by engaging the front edge (16') of the shell (10) to define a fulcrum (F) and then rotating about the fulcrum (F) to engage the insert portions (241) with the insert apertures (40") of the shell (10). Each insert aperture (40', 40", 40‴) may open inside the cavity (12) of the shell (10) so that the respective securing element (150, 250) is releasable from within the cavity (12).
