Abstract

A medical support apparatus comprising a processor configured to: acquire a surgical field image obtained by optically taking, with a camera, an image of a surgical field containing a target area inside the body; generate a composite image with preparation information superimposed onto the surgical field image, the preparation information having been prepared in advance as information related to the target area, including at least a three-dimensional image illustrating an internal structure of the target area or applied information applied to the three-dimensional image, and having a defined three-dimensional position within the three-dimensional image; and control displaying of the composite image, wherein if the preparation information further includes a plurality of pieces of preparation information at different depths in a depth direction proceeding from a surface layer to deep layers of the target area in the three-dimensional image, the processor is configured to change a display appearance of the plurality of pieces of preparation information in the composite image, depending on the depth.
