Abstract

The present invention relates to a method, device and system for calculating a trajectory for an ablation electrode for tissue ablation during an interventional procedure. The method may comprise: - Receiving (S1) interventional image data; - Executing a segmentation algorithm (S2) on the received interventional image data for providing a set of segmentation masks, comprising at least a tumor mask and a body mask; - Determining (S3) a set of target points, based on the provided tumor mask; - Determining (S4) a set of skin entry points, based on the provided body mask; - Computing (S5) a set of trajectory candidates, wherein a trajectory candidate comprises at least a pair of target point and skin entry point; - Receiving (S6) a set of pre-definable constraints; - Classifying (S7) the received set of constraints in at least two classes: a first type constraint which are to be met mandatorily and a second type constraints which need not to be met mandatorily; - Defining (S8) differently sized and ordered subsets of trajectory candidates, wherein the subsets differ in conforming with the second type of constraints, - Executing an optimization algorithm (S9) on the defined subsets for calculating (S10) at least one trajectory as result, starting with an initial subset, conforming with all first type constraints and with all second type constraints by computing a cost value, based on a cost function, and if no solution with 100% tumor coverage is found: iteratively executing the optimization algorithm for the next subset within the ordered subsets, so that the second type constraints are stepwise relaxed.
