Abstract

Methods of profile sharpening the teeth of a band saw blade comprise the steps of a) providing a grinding tool having at least one grinding head configured; b) arranging the rotation axis of the at least one grinding head at an angle in relation to a base line of the band saw blade; c) defining an insertion angle of the grinding head between an insertion direction of the grinding head and a line perpendicular to the base line of the band saw blade, which insertion angle is different from at least one hook angle of the tooth face of the at least one tooth, and displacing the at least one grinding head along the insertion direction into a space between two adjacent teeth of the band saw blade to achieve a grinding start position; and d) operating the grinding tool to grind at least the tooth face of the at least one tooth by continuing displacing the grinding head in the insertion direction. Grinding heads and a profile sharpening machine for use in the methods are provided.
