Abstract

A method of controlling a traction inverter of an electric machine including receiving a torque estimation from a torque meter based on hardware or software connected to the traction inverter; receiving a parameter data of a power semiconductor of the traction inverter semiconductor monitor; determining a health prediction of the power semiconductor based on the parameter data; determining an operating mode of the traction inverter based on the parameter data, the health prediction, and the torque estimation; and generating a control instruction based on the operating mode, wherein the control instruction includes a gate control of a gate of the traction inverter, a current control of a current to the power semiconductor, or a flow control to control a distribution of cooling fluid to the power semiconductor.
