Abstract

According to a vehicle control device of the present invention, in one aspect thereof, a reference trajectory is generated on the basis of a travelable area ahead of a vehicle and a predetermined constraint in travel of the vehicle through the travelable area, an assist amount for causing travel of the vehicle according to an operation by a driver to approach reference information acquired on the basis of the reference trajectory is determined on the basis of a physical quantity related to the motion of the vehicle, a physical quantity related to a driving operation of the vehicle by the driver, and the reference information, and the assist amount is output to a travel actuator of the vehicle. Thereby, the comfort and safety of a vehicle when a driver performs driving operations of the vehicle can be enhanced.
