Abstract

Method for monitoring and managing defects (1) in the rails (2) and switches of a metro-railway line, which provides a first new scan of at least a section of the metro-railway line performed by a first ultrasonic sensor system mounted on a motorized rolling vehicle moving continuously along said section of the metro-railway line to detect indications of potential defects (1), a creation of a database containing at least information regarding the positions and the probable sizes of the indicated potential defects (1), the overlapping and comparison of these indications of potential defects with similar indications from any previous scans to distinguish new indications, a second new scan of all positions of the indicated potential defect (1) listed in the database, both new and from any previous scans, using a second portable ultrasonic sensor system for final confirmation of the defects and separation of false indications or false positives, the assignment of a class to the confirmed defects (1), an association in said database between the confirmed defects (1) and their respective classes, an association in said database of a dedicated intervention type for each classified defect (1), a dedicated intervention for each classified defect (1), and an association in said database of an outcome for each dedicated intervention.
