Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for the chemical conversion of a hydrocarbon stream. The chemical conversion process of the present invention comprises the steps of: providing a hydrocarbon stream comprising a paraffinic alkane represented by the following structural formula (I), converting at least a part of the paraffinic alkanes in a conversion reaction to C<2>-C<6> n-alkanes in the presence of a catalyst and hydrogen gas to obtain a converted product, wherein the catalyst comprises a molecular sieve and a non-noble metal hydrogenation active metal component, and steam cracking the converted product to obtain a cracked product comprising ethylene. <img class="EMIRef" id="cc7941ac-677e-4eee-91de-d2f62504fec9-ia01" /> in the structural formula (I), R is C<2>-C<6> linear or branched alkyl. According to the invention, low-quality ethylene raw materials can be effectively converted into high-quality ethylene raw materials, the yield of ethylene and triene of an ethylene device can be greatly improved by the hydrocarbon stream after hydrogenation conversion, the process is simple, the operation difficulty is low, and the process has good economic benefits.
