Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for improving the quality of a hydrocarbon stream. The process for improving the quality of a hydrocarbon stream according to the present invention comprises the steps of: providing a hydrocarbon stream containing C<5>-C<6> iso-alkanes, wherein the content of the C<5>-C<6> iso-alkanes in the hydrocarbon stream is 60-90 wt%, based on the total weight of the hydrocarbon stream being 100 wt%; converting at least a part of the C<5>-C<6> iso-alkanes in the presence of a catalyst and hydrogen by a conversion reaction into C<2>-C<6> n-alkanes, to obtain a conversion product, wherein the catalyst comprises a molecular sieve and a non-noble metal hydrogenation-active metal component; steam cracking the conversion product to obtain a cracking product comprising ethylene. According to the present invention, low-quality ethylene raw material can be effectively converted into high-quality ethylene raw material. The hydrocarbon stream after the hydro-conversion can greatly improve the yield of ethylene and the yield of triene of the ethylene device. Moreover, the process procedures according to the present invention was simple with low difficulty of operation, thus had very good economic benefit.
