Abstract
A complex ester of neopentyl glycol, a dihydric aliphatic alcohol other than neopentyl glycol, a dihydric aliphatic carboxylic acid, and a monohydric aliphatic alcohol, wherein the complex ester has an ester bond formed by esterification of the hydroxy group of the neopentyl glycol and an unreacted hydroxy group in which the hydroxy group has not been esterified, and the proportion of the unreacted hydroxy group in the total of the ester bond and the unreacted hydroxy group is 6% by mole or less, the complex ester being for refrigerating machine oil.
