Abstract
Process for replacing a worn or defective rail section (7) of a metro-railway line (100), which provides for remotely forming a replacement rail section (5) by carrying out, on a dedicated straight welding track, a series of flash-butt welds (3) between precisely aligned standard-length rail bars (4); on site, adapting the curvature of the replacement rail section (5) to the curvature of the line (100) in the worn or defective rail section (7) if the line (100) in the worn or defective rail section (7) includes at least one curve; cutting the replacement rail section (5) to size; and replacing the worn or defective rail section (7) by joining its ends to the rail still in place by means of aluminothermic welds (12).
