Abstract

A method is provided for operating an aircraft engine (10) in a fire-induced emergency shutdown state. An indication of a fire in a fire zone (40) of the aircraft engine (10) is received. In response to the receiving the indication of the fire in the fire zone (40) of the aircraft engine (10), an emergency shutdown sequence of the aircraft engine (10) is initiated. In response to the initiating the emergency shutdown sequence of the aircraft engine (10), an auxiliary oil pump (36) positioned outside of the fire zone (40) of the aircraft engine (10) and distinct from a main oil pump (32) of the aircraft engine (10) is activated. Once activated, the auxiliary oil pump (36) circulates oil through a main oil conduit (35) of the aircraft engine (10).
