Abstract
A system for improving fuel consumption of a marine vessel, comprising at least one processor and a memory including computer program code, with the at least memory and the computer program code being configured with the at least one processor to cause the system to: obtain (630) safety information indicative of an increased likelihood for collision of the vessel with another maritime object; process (640) current navigational data of the vessel in view of the safety information to generate a set of possible deviation maneuvering schemes with respect to the other object which qualify a collision prevention safety criterion; perform (652) fuel consumption analysis for the set of possible deviation maneuvering schemes to assess fuel consumption in different possible deviation maneuvering schemes; and compute (660) a recommended deviation scheme for the vessel based on results of the analysis, to reduce fuel consumption of the vessel in maneuvering with respect to the other object.
