Abstract
Provided are a silicon carbide powder that hardly causes thickening even if it is added to a dissimilar material in a liquid form such as a liquid resin or a molten metal, and a method for producing the same. The silicon carbide powder is a silicon carbide powder containing primary particles of silicon carbide having an α-type crystal system, the primary particles of the silicon carbide contain, on surfaces thereof, at least one element selected from aluminum, yttrium, and ytterbium, and the Hausner ratio of the silicon carbide powder is 2.1 or less.
