Abstract

Process for the management and valorisation of zero-waste agro-industrial olive oil waste, within the framework of the circular bioeconomy. The process is divided into two main stages 1.-Phase prior to the anaerobic digester which consists of the following stages -Reception and storage of the alperujo (olive pomace) -Separation of pulp and stone -Horizontal 3-phase centrifugation - Hydrothermal carbonisation of the acidic aqueous effluent and 2.- Anaerobic digestion phase obtaining products including -Biomass (stone, pulp, pomace and olive marc/pomace) -Olive pomace oil -Metallic hydrochar and/or metallic biochar with carbon-encapsulated iron nanoparticles -Nutrient-rich liquid -Gases composed mainly of CO2 -Green energy in the form of biogas and/or biomethane -Digestate for use as organic amendment or fertiliser feedstock. This innovative process allows the full valorisation of olive residues, contributing to sustainability and efficiency in the olive oil industry.
