Abstract

A method of controlling the operation of a wind turbine is provided. The wind turbine (100) comprises a wind turbine rotor (120) with one or more rotor blades (121, 122, 123) and a control system (10) that operates at least one load reduction pitch control function (40) configured to adjust a blade pitch angle to reduce a blade load. The method comprises monitoring an operating parameter of the wind turbine (100), generating, by the load reduction pitch control function (40), a pitch adjustment output (62) based on the monitored operating parameter (61), and determining, based on the monitored operating parameter (61) and/or the pitch adjustment output (62), if a predetermined criterion is fulfilled. If the predetermined criterion is fulfilled, a power output of the wind turbine (100) and/or a rotational speed of the rotor (120) of the wind turbine (100) is curtailed.
