Abstract

To provide a sliding component having high floating effect.A sliding component 3 is disposed between a housing 2 and a shaft 1 extending through the housing 2, and has a pair of sliding surfaces 11, 21 that rotate relative to each other. At least one of the sliding surfaces 11 is provided with a dynamic pressure generating groove 13 having an introduction portion 14 on a radially outer side that communicates with an outer space S1 and an introduction portion 15 on a radially inner side that communicates with an inner space S2, and a tip portion 17B where both the introduction portions 14, 15 meet on a relative rotation downstream side. The dynamic pressure generating groove 13 is shallower on a side of the tip portion 17B than on a side of the introduction portion 14 and a side of the introduction portion 15.
