Abstract

In a method according to some embodiments, a plurality of potential viewpoints of a 3D Gaussian model are selected. For a first subset of the plurality of potential viewpoints, a first determination is made of a number of 3D Gaussians contributing to rendering of a synthetic view at the respective viewpoint. For a second subset of the plurality of potential viewpoints, a second determination is made of whether any incompletely filled pixels are present in a rendering of a synthetic view at the respective viewpoint. A a first region of potential captured viewpoints is selected based at least in part on the first determination and the second determination.
