Abstract

The assist system for a forestry machine (20, 30) comprises means (2) for obtaining position data of the forestry machine (20, 30), an imaging device (3) configured to obtain images of the surroundings of the machine, data processing means (1) configured to link the position data with the obtained images, a data storage (5, 6) for storing the images and the position data, and a display device (4) configured to display images of the surroundings of the machine to an operator of the machine in real time. The data processing means (1) are configured to compare real time images (10R) to images (10S) stored in the data storage (5, 6), augment the real time images (10R) with information contained in the stored images (10S), and/or augment the stored images (10S) with information contained in the real time images (10R), and display the augmented images (10A) to the operator.
