Abstract
A secondary battery cell according to the present invention comprises: a housing in which an electrode assembly and an electrolyte are accommodated; a top cap covering an opening formed on one side of the housing; and a safety vent located at a lower portion of the top cap and including a rupture portion that ruptures due to an increase in pressure inside the housing to exhaust gas; wherein a gas-generating material is contained inside the housing, and when the secondary battery cell is exposed to a temperature at or higher than a predetermined temperature, the gas-generating material reacts with components of the secondary battery cell to generate gas, thereby inducing early venting of the safety vent.
