Abstract

To provide a medical device that reduces the likelihood of the occurrence of recoil or remodeling by appropriately setting a region of a biological tissue to be cauterized by an electrode unit. The present invention provides a medical device 10 for forming a communication hole Hh in biological tissue, the medical device 10 including: an expansion body 21 including wire materials 50 and expandable and contractible in the radial direction; and electrode units 22 disposed on the expansion body 21, wherein the number N of the electrode units 22, the length L (mm) of each of the electrode units 22 along the direction of extension of the wire materials 50, and the width W (mm) of each of the electrode units 22 orthogonal to the length L (mm) satisfy (Mathematical Expression 1) and (Mathematical Expression 2). L≤2.0W+1×N8π≥0.40
