Abstract
A dental scan aid 12 is provided comprising a scan substrate 14 having a randomised irregular surface 16 unique to the dental scan aid 12. There is a connection means to allow the scan substrate 14 to be fixed relative to a patient's maxillary or mandibular arch 10a, 10b. There is also a regular structure 24 extending from the randomised irregular surface 16 to thereby provide fixed positional information relative to the maxillary or mandibular arch 10a, 10b to improve dental scan accuracy when the dental scan aid 12 is in position.
