Abstract
A printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) and methods for fabricating a PCHE for use in facilitating heat transfer includes providing a plurality of plates that each include a plurality of densely spaced channels configured to channel fluid through the PCHE. The method also includes applying a protective coating to pre-defined regions identified on at least one of the plurality of plates, wherein the protective coating facilitates extending a useful life of the PCHE, and coupling at least two of the plurality of plates together to create the PCHE.
