Abstract
A visbroken hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer (m-HSBC) is disclosed. The polymer comprises at least one vinyl-aromatic block "S" and at least one rubbery block "R" derived from hydrogenated diene units. The visbroken HSBC is produced by controlled chain scission of a high-molecular-weight HSBC precursor and retains a GPC major peak molecular weight (M<p>) of greater than 200 kg/mol. The visbroken HSBC exhibits a very low melt flow rate (MFR) of < 10 g/10 min when measured at 190°C under a 2.16 kg load. The visbroken HSBC provides a balance of controlled melt flow, elasticity, and mechanical integrity, making it particularly suitable for foam and foam-forming compositions.
