Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a lanyard safety device for a marine helm station, comprising a base part comprising a socket, the socket having a first end, a second end and a housing extending between the first end and the second end, a circumferential inner groove is arranged in the housing, a mechanical fastening mechanism is arranged in the inner groove, a first magnet being arranged at the second end, and a plug part configured to be attached to the socket of the base part, the plug part comprising a projection protruding from a plug head, the projection comprises a circumferential outer groove, a second magnet arranged within the projection, wherein the plug part is releasable maintained in the base part by a magnetic fastening between the first magnet and the second magnet and that the mechanical fastening mechanism is attached to the outer groove, wherein the magnetic fastening doubles as a proximity sensor.
