Abstract

A bearing unit for an azimuthing propulsion unit, an azimuthing propulsion unit including a bearing unit, and a method for supporting shafts in an azimuthing propulsion unit is described. The azimuthing propulsion unit includes a rotatable inner shaft and a rotatable outer shaft. The bearing unit includes a bearing arrangement including axial bearings for the inner shaft and the outer shaft; and a bearing housing for housing the bearing arrangement and the parts of the inner shaft and the outer shaft to be supported by the bearing arrangement; wherein the bearing arrangement is configured for allowing a transfer of axial forces between the outer shaft and the inner shaft.
