Abstract

An imaging apparatus (100, 200) includes: a light emitting unit (201) configured to emit pulsed light; an imaging unit (102) configured to generate an image signal by exposure with reflected light acquired by causing the pulsed light to strike a subject and be reflected; and a control unit (105) configured to control a light emission timing of the light emitting unit (201) and an exposure timing of the imaging unit (102) such that the reflected light from the subject within a predetermined distance range from the imaging unit (102) is exposed by the imaging unit (102). The control unit (105) changes an operating area for performing a predetermined operation in the imaging unit (102) on the basis of the predetermined distance range.
