Abstract
An object is to provide a novel solid carbon quantum dot exhibiting excellent light emission characteristics when irradiated with light. The solid carbon quantum dot that achieves the aforementioned object has a carbon nitride crystal structure and a graphite crystal structure; an X-ray diffraction spectrum obtained by an X-ray diffraction method includes a peak P<sub>CN</sub> assigned to the carbon nitride crystal structure and having a maximum value in a range of a diffraction angle 2θ of greater than 26° and 29° or less, and a peak P<sub>Gr1</sub> assigned to the graphite crystal structure and having a maximum value in a range of a diffraction angle 2θ of 10° or greater and 12° or less; and when a line connecting a point at which a diffraction (scattering) intensity is minimum at a diffraction angle 2θ of 11° or greater and 15° or less, and a point at which a diffraction (scattering) intensity is minimum at a diffraction angle 2θ of 34° or greater and 40° or less is used as a baseline, a half width of a diffraction peak P<sub>Gr2</sub> assigned to the graphite crystal structure and positioned at a diffraction angle 2θ of 25° is 2° or greater and 20° or less.
