Abstract

Method for sending medical image data to a cloud storage system, in particular for archiving, and method for retrieving medical image data from a cloud storage system The invention relates to a computer-implemented method for sending medical image data to a cloud storage system, wherein the method comprises the steps: - obtaining, at a edge system, medical image data and a storage request from a medical system, the storage request requesting storage of the medical image data, wherein the medical system and the edge system are parts of a local network; - storing the medical image data in an incoming cache of the edge system; - sending, by the edge system, a storage response to the medical system via the local network; - sending the medical image data from the incoming cache to a cloud storage system, the cloud storage system being separated from the local network, wherein the uploading to the cloud storage system is decoupled with regard to time from the sending of the storage response.
