Abstract

Disclosed are a negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery, and a rechargeable lithium battery including the negative electrode. The negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a current collector, a first negative electrode active material layer on a first surface of the current collector, and a second negative electrode active material layer on a second surface of the current collector. A difference in the active mass density between the first negative electrode active material layer and the second negative electrode active material layer is in a range of about 0.02 g/cc to about 0.06 g/cc.
