Abstract

An optical amplifier comprising: a first optical fiber section (2a) that is configured to receive a light as an input (1); a fiber beam splitter (3) connected to the first optical fiber section (2a); a second optical fiber section (2b); an amplification section (9) which comprises a laser diode (7) which is optically coupled to a second end (22) of the second optical fiber section (2b) and is configured to receive the light, amplify the light, thereby producing amplified light, and transmit the amplified light towards the second end (22) of the second optical fiber section (2b); the second optical fiber section (2b) is configured to receive via its second end (22) the amplified light and direct it towards the fiber beam splitter (3); a third optical fiber section (2c) connected to the fiber beam splitter (3).
