Abstract

The present invention processes media at an appropriate position. A media processing device (100) is provided with a table (10), a head (20), a relative movement mechanism (30), and a control unit (40). When the table (10) and the head (20) are being moved in a relative fashion at a predetermined relative speed in a main scanning direction and media is being processed, the control unit (40) controls a processing parameter of the timing of processing by a processing unit and/or the height of the processing unit on the basis of a gap between the head (20) and either a placement surface or a reference surface that is an upper surface of the media. If a corrected parameter obtained by correcting the processing parameter has been set on the basis of the difference between the actual gap over the reference surface and a reference value for the gap, then processing is controlled so as to be performed with this corrected parameter.
