Abstract

Disclosed is a thruster unit (100) for use as a main propulsion in a water vessel, comprising a rotatable thruster housing (130); a rotating mechanism (140) to rotate the rotatable thruster housing; and a tilt mechanism (110) comprising a cardan shaft (112), the tilt mechanism mechanically connected to the rotatable thruster housing to tilt the thruster housing, wherein the rotatable thruster housing comprises a first propeller (132) with a first rotating axle (134), and a second propeller (138) with a second rotating axle (136), the first propeller and second propeller being contra-rotating relative to each other, and the tilt mechanism is a variable tilt mechanism configured to control a tilt angle of the rotatable thruster housing within a range of 0 to 12 degrees based on the operational mode of the thruster unit.Disclosed is also a double-ended water vessel.
