Abstract
A method for producing hydrogen gas includes a step of obtaining hydrogen gas by irradiating, with light, a mixture comprising a catalyst containing a base metal component, and a substrate containing at least one selected from the group consisting of chitin, cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, glucose, cellobiose, starch, and an alcohol.
