Abstract
A device for generating liquid droplets comprising a body configured to hold a liquid, one or more piezoelectric actuators disposed within the body, and one or more piezoelectric sensors disposed on an underside of the body, wherein the piezoelectric sensors are configured to generate an electrical signal which is configured to activate the piezoelectric actuators. The one or more piezoelectric actuators are configured to oscillate at an ultrasonic frequency to atomise the liquid within the body to generate a plurality of droplets. A system for maintaining hydration of a biostructure, the system comprising the aforementioned device for generating liquid droplets, a hydration chamber, and a tubing configured to convey liquid droplets generated by the device into the hydration chamber. The hydration chamber comprising a chamber lid configured to fit over a printing plate, wherein the chamber lid comprises an inlet to receive the tubing.
