Abstract

A system (10) is proposed comprising: a housing (12), an electric power source (14), and a reciprocating element (34). The housing (12) is electrically conductive and arranged to hold a fluid, and the power source (14) is arranged to supply an electric current. The reciprocating element (34) is located at least partly within the housing (12), and the reciprocating element (34) is electrically conductive. The housing (12), electric power source (14), and reciprocating element (34) are operationally coupled in the electric circuit (16) that is arranged to lead the current from the electric power source (14) through the housing (12) and the reciprocating element (34). The electric current is configured to inhibit microbiological growth within the housing (12) and on the reciprocating element (34).
