Abstract

A ring segment of a rotary kiln sealing has a cross section being defined by a section surface extending orthogonal to the ring axis or a curved section surface being concentric with the ring axis, wherein the cross section has an outer edge, an inner edge, a first azimuthal edge and a second azimuthal edge, provides for smaller gaps if the first azimuthal edge has a first section and that for any point x<sub>1</sub> of the first section, the tangent T<sub>1</sub>(x<sub>1</sub>) to the first section intersects the radial direction at the corresponding point x<sub>1</sub> in an angle α<sub>1</sub>, wherein α<sub>1</sub> > 0 and/or the second azimuthal edge has a first section and that for any point x<sub>2</sub> of the first section of the second azimuthal edge, the tangent T<sub>2</sub>(x<sub>2</sub>) to the first section intersects the radial direction at the corresponding point x<sub>2</sub> in an angle α<sub>2</sub>, wherein α<sub>2</sub> > 0.
