Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a concept for fusing sensor data from different sensors. The method comprises obtaining radar data from a radar sensor and image data from a camera. The radar data represents the environment of the vehicle, and the image data represents the environment from an ego-perspective of the vehicle. Further, the method comprises processing the radar data using an auto encoder-decoder. In doing so, the auto encoder-decoder recovers angle information from the radar data to present features extracted from the radar data in a top view. Also, the method includes processing the image data using a variational auto encoder-decoder (VAE). The VAE obtains extracted features in a top view. Further, the method comprises fusing the extracted features with each other and providing the fused features for assisted or autonomous driving.
