Abstract

According to a first aspect of the present invention, it may be provided a computer-implemented signal routing method for a building management system, hereinafter referred to as BMS, the BMS preferably being an access control system. The BMS may comprise a decision BMS-point, a plurality of signal-forwarding BMS-points, a plurality of enforcement BMS-points, and a plurality of action BMS-points, preferably each of the action BMS-points being associated with at least one of the plurality of enforcement BMS-points. It may be provided that each enforcement BMS-point is configured to cause operation of at least one action BMS-point, preferably the operation including unlocking an access point. The method may comprise obtaining, by the decision BMS-point, respective statuses of the signal-forwarding BMS-points. The method may further comprise determining, by the decision BMS-point, a target enforcement BMS-point configured to cause operation of a target action BMS-point. It may be provided that the method comprises selecting, by the decision BMS-point and based on the statuses of the signal-forwarding BMS-points and based on the target enforcement BMS-point, a signal route comprising at least a first signal-forwarding BMS-point, the signal route providing a signal path between the decision BMS-point and the target enforcement BMS-point. The method may further comprise sending, by the decision BMS-point, a first signal designated to the first signal-forwarding BMS-point of the signal route. It may be provided that the first signal comprises an instruction for the target enforcement BMS-point.
