Abstract

A display system includes a patterned covering surface having a plurality of holes; a display device having a display surface covered by the covering surface; and an image processing apparatus configured to process image data displayed on the display device. The image processing apparatus includes a correction data storage to store correction data generated by gradation-inverting a luminance distribution that appears on the covering surface when the entire display surface of the display device is displayed in a uniform color; and an image processor to correct the image data to be displayed on the display surface based on the correction data that is read from the correction data storage within a luminance dynamic range that is determined based on a transmittance of the covering surface and an image luminance of the image data.
